School Meals

School meals are available at a cost of £2.55 per day.  These are provided for our pupils by Fresha.

Meal choices should be booked at least 2 weeks in advance. As of Tuesday 4th June 2024, we can no longer take meal bookings 'on the day'. We will be moving to a different method of ordering meals from September 2024 - you will be advised by School Jotter when meals are available to book and how to book.

Please make your payment through our online system for school meals using the School Gateway app.  Please see the office for more information.

A copy of the menu for Autumn Term 2024 can be found here.

The menu for November 2024 - February 2025 can be found here.

Free School Meals (FSM) and the Pupil Premium Grant (PPG)

If your child is eligible for Free School Meals (FSM), they will also receive the Pupil Premium Grant (PPG).  The school will benefit even if you do not want your child to have the meals.

The Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) is additional funding paid directly to schools where parents / carers have applied for and been granted Free School Meals (FSM).  The school receives £1,385 for each child each year and for the 6 years after they cease to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM).  This funding is used to support your child's education.

Parents and Carers of children in Reception, year 1 and year 2 at state schools in England do not pay for their child’s school meal - this is called Universal Infant Meals.  However,  everyone is encouraged to apply for FSM when they enrol their child in school, or at any time if their family income changes and they may become eligible - clearly £1.385 a year makes a big difference to the support we can provide for children.

From year 3 onwards, children whose parents are eligible for FSM do not pay for their child’s school meal.

Families receiving any of the following are entitled to FSM and the school will receive the Pupil Premium Grant:

  • Universal Credit (provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400.00, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods)
  • Income Support (IS)
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance (IBSJA)
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (IRESA).
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income as assessed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, that does not exceed £16,190.00)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on  (the payment you get for a further 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit).

Children who receive a qualifying benefit in their own right can also get free school meals and the Pupil Premium Grant.

Claiming Free School Meals opens up different opportunities for you, your child and the school.  Even if you do not intend claiming your meals, the school receives significant extra funding to support our work. You may also be able to access different avenues of support, for example through requesting help with residential trip payments.

Devon's information page about the Pupil Premium Grant is here

The quickest way to apply for FSM and make sure the school receives the PPG is through the online self-service platform which enables you to access a free school meal eligibility check on https://oneonline.devon.gov.uk/CCSCitizenPortal_LIVE/.  Please note that the service is for people who hold parental responsibility and the school can not log in to the portal on your behalf.  If you are entitled to free school meals, please take a print of the screen confirming you are eligible or a screen shot, and pass this to the School Office.  Alternatively you can call Devon County Council's free school meals team on 0345 155 1019.

Please note that from 1 April 2018, all children currently getting free school meals will continue to do so while Universal Credit is rolled out.  This will apply even if their parents’ earnings rise above the new threshold during that time.  In addition, any child who becomes eligible for free school meals after 1 April 2018 will be protected against losing these during the Universal Credit roll-out period.  Once Universal Credit is fully rolled out, any existing claimants that no longer meet the eligibility criteria at that point (because their earnings are above the threshold or are no longer a recipient of Universal Credit) will continue to receive free school meals until the end of their current phase of education (such as primary or secondary).  The Universal Credit roll-out is currently expected to complete by the end of 2024.
