Online Safety
We all recognise that being able to use the internet is now essential, it's a part of our everyday life. But it can be a dangerous place and it's vital that parents and carers understand the risks and monitor the ways their child is using the internet, social media and games. There is some guidance in this newsletter which we sent out.
This is a really tricky task, especially because as soon as we get used to one app, game or website, it changes and a new version takes over.
There are a number of fantastic websites and settings which can help us all to keep our children safe, you'll find some of them here on this page.
In their learning, children will make regular use of computing technology. You will find our Online Safety policy on our Policies page.
Websites about safeguarding, including online safety:
CEOP Child Exploitation and Online Protection website has a wealth of information, advice about websites, internet and related terminology and the opportunity to report inappropriate online content or actions. Scroll all the way down their home page. They have also included some new Home Activity Packs to support parents during COVID-19 and the school closure period.
Childnet Stay safe online. Information for Primary aged children can be found here. Information for parents is accessed here - regular updates to help us all stay aware and help our children stay safe.
Childline Internet support for young people.
Devon Safeguarding Children's Board Local advice and information.
UK Safer Internet Centre Support and advice to help families stay safe online. This page links to how you can set up safe filters on your home internet and devices.

Every Wednesday we send home the Wake-Up Wednesday parent guide from the National Online Safety website.
These are quick guides to update you about popular websites, games and apps, giving an overview of the purpose, risks and settings so you can take responsibility and decide whether your child should be accessing these and take action to ensure that you can be confident in your child's online safety.
A sample of the guides can be found below, you can find more on the NOS website and sign up to receive them yourself.
