Collective Worship and Church Links

Back when children first returned to schools after the first lockdown, one of the children commented that they were really looking forward to being 'all together again, because we are like One Big Beacon Family' and their name for us has stuck.  Collective Worship is the backbone of our One Big Beacon Family, it's a special time where we come together to worship and focus on an aspect of how we help ourselves and others to live life in all its fullness (John 10:10) - our school vision.

We hold daily acts of Collective Worship. Sometimes as a whole school, other times as a class or Key Stage.  Our Friday Celebration Worship events are held at Holy Trinity every week when our worship is followed by the Star of the Week certificates and other awards.  Everyone is warmly invited to join us every Friday for our Celebration Worships, we meet at Holy Trinity at 9am, the children love it when parents, carers and family members join us.

Our Collective Worships focus on a different value each half term, we learn and reflect how this value helps us to live life in all its fullness (John 10:10), our school vision.  We always start with lighting our candles, taking a moment to find a still, quiet place and a greeting.  We hear bible stories, learn about other people and consider how the value helps us to live life in all its fullness (John 10:10), our school vision for every member of our community.  Collective Worship is a very special time for us all.

We work closely with the clergy team at Holy Trinity, our church.  The Clergy Team lead Collective Worship once a week and join us for festivals and special occasions both in school and at Holy Trinity.  Revd Jonathan Reynolds (Curate) has been joining us on Thursdays over lunchtimes, spending time with both staff and children.

The new theme for our Collective Worship over the Second half of the Summer Term is Respect.

We are using Roots and Fruits, an Imaginor publication to support all our Collective Worship themes this school year. Our Worship uses their resources with some of our own added in.  We regularly use Barnabus in Schools and SPCK resources.

Holy Trinity Church is part of Exmouth Coastal Churches. The Mission Community includes the parish churches at Littleham and Lympstone.  You can find out more about our church community here.
