RSE - Relationships and Sex Education

All schools were required to consult with parents and carers about their Relationships and Sex Education curriculum.  At The Beacon, we consulted in Spring term 2021.  Details of our policy and curriculum can be found below.  If you are a parent or carer at The Beacon and you have any questions about our approach to RSE, please do get in touch.

We believe that all aspects of PSHE and RSE are vitally important and are a key part of how we support children to be confident individuals who can positively face the successes and challenges of life and that they are appreciative and respectful of other people's uniqueness, and recognise and celebrate their own.  These statements are taken from our school aims and are vital if our children are able to 'live life in all its fullness' (John 10;10 - our vision).

At The Beacon we have been using the Jigsaw PSHE curriculum for a number of years. This meets the statutory requirement of the RSE curriculum and our consultation proposal is that we continue to use these same materials.

This is an explanation of the statutory curriculum that all schools must teach in their RSE Curriculum.

This is the Jigsaw Information for Parents and Carers about the Jigsaw RSE Curriculum.

This is a copy of the Jigsaw PSHE and RSE Curriculum Map which gives more detail about what's covered in each year group and the progression across the school.

This information explains how the Church of England Principles and Charter match the Jigsaw RSE approach.

Our School PSHE and RSE Policy is always available on the Policies page of our website.

You will find a copy of the letter we sent home during our consultation in Spring 2021 here.
