Spelling

As well as the weekly spelling focus, children have a list of words that will be taught throughout the year in class. These can also be practised at home.

Times Tables

X-Tables are extremely important in all aspects of maths learning and understanding. The children are encouraged to play TT-Rockstars regularly and we ask that you support this by giving them opportunities to practise at home.

What we are learning this term

Our Topic is: Movers and Shakers!

Mary Anning:

Facts and Figures About Plesiosaurus, the Long-Necked Marine Reptile How to become the next Mary Anning in 10 Steps Fossil blubber shows ichthyosaurs were warm blooded reptiles | New Scientist

We started our learning this term looking at fossilist Mary Anning. She came from Lyme Regis and discovered the Ichthyosaur and Plesiosaur. We discussed how in the past women were not respected as much as men in the world of Science. We learned that Mr Edmunds is a descendant of Mary Anning and that she inspired the song "she sells sea shells on the sea shore!"

Amelia Earhart:

Amelia Earhart | Disappearance, Famous For, Childhood, & Facts | Britannica We loved learning about Amelia Earhart and her bravery. She inspired so many women around the world to work hard to achieve their dreams. We looked at Amelia's flight around the world and tried hard to name all of the continents and oceans she passed on her incredible journey!

Captain James Cook

Who is Captain Cook? - Twinkl

We have enjoyed role-playing the adventures of Captain cook and had fun learning the Haka dance in topic lessons. We also learned a little about some of the countries he visited and discovered...
