Collective Worship for the week of 4th May 2020

The theme for our Collective Worship this half term is Friendship.

This week, we're thinking about making time for each other.

Monday 4th May

Have a look at this painting by artist He Qi.

What do you think the man and the two women in the picture are doing?  How do you think they might be feeling?

You can see more of He Qi’s art work on this page https://www.heqiart.com/store/c1/Featured_Products.html (external web content).  He was one of the first Chinese people to gain a PhD in religious art in Mainland China after the revolution there and has won awards globally for his work.

Have a look at some of He Qi’s other art work and see if you can find pictures of friends making time for each other.

Tuesday 5th May

The picture we looked at yesterday by He Qi showed a time when Jesus went to the home of a family who had shown him kindness and friendship.  In the family there was a brother, Lazerus and two sisters, Martha and Mary.  You can choose to either read the story or to watch a video of it - or maybe you'd like to do both!

Martha and Mary were Jesus’s friends, he loved them equally.  Martha was trying to help, but Jesus wanted both sisters to make time for their friendship to grow.

Wednesday 6th May

Look again at He Qi’s painting.  He painted the shape of a dove coming to Mary.

Why do you think he did that?

Maybe you could have a go at making, or painting a paper dove.

If you were in a room with Jesus, what do you think he would say to you?

Maybe you can write that on the dove – or write a prayer asking Jesus to help us make time for our friends.

Maybe you could put your dove in  a window so others can enjoy seeing it.

Thursday 7th May: Today there’s a special country-wide Collective Worship which you will find on the Oak National Academy website.  https://www.thenational.academy/assembly

Friday 8th May: Today is the 75th Anniversary of VE Day.  We hope you are able to enjoy a family celebration at home. Have a look on our special page for ideas and further information.

If you haven't heard this, have a listen, it's beautiful.  The UK Blessing. (You Tube link)
